Sheraton Kauai Resort presents its First Annual RumFest at RumFire Poipu Beach to celebrate National Rum Day. On Friday, August 16 at 5:30 p.m., guests will enjoy the resort’s open-air Ocean Courtyard, which will feature Hawaii-made rums, island music and heavy pupu (appetizers) from the resort’s signature restaurant, RumFire Poipu Beach. A silent auction will be held during the festivities to benefit the Kauai Humane Society.
Socialize around the Ocean Courtyard’s fire pits and sample with local premium rum at RumFest tasting stations. Featured are Kauai’s own Koloa Rum Co., as well as Old Lahaina, Maui Rum and Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum – all produced in the islands. There will be more than 15 varieties available at the event and you can enjoy a cocktail from your favorite. Tastings are complemented by an array of pupu from RumFire’s kitchen, including Lemongrass Rum-Glazed Chicken Wings, Grilled Steak with Pappadew Pepper Relish and Seared Shrimp Sticks with Pineapple Rum Cocktail Sauce. Live local entertainment will be provided throughout the event.

As part of the RumFest at RumFire festivities, guests are welcome to participate in a silent auction to benefit the Kauai Humane Society. Founded in 1952 to protect Kauai’s animals and to promote the human – animal bond, the Kauai Humane Society is an independent and private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that receives no funding from mainland humane organizations, the State or Federal government. The organization depends on the contributions of donors to continue to fund programs and services that are vital to the community and the island’s animals. Programs and services provided by the Kauai Humane Society include pet adoptions, low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics,  “voluntourism” efforts which includes the nationally recognized pet field trip program, Critter Camp for the keiki (children) of Kauai, and the Save Our Shearwaters (SOS) program.
Ticket prices for RumFire at RumFest are $40 (inclusive tax and gratuity) and include a chance to win a variety of door prizes, as well as a 15-percent discount for one dinner at RumFire throughout the month of August.
RumFire is the south shore’s hotspot for ocean front dining boasting 180-degree oceanfront views from all of its 240 seats. Guests dining at RumFire will enjoy Hawaiian-rooted cuisine with a global twist such as its enticing nightly specials and signature crab-crusted catch of the day. Tantalizing cocktails include smoldering libations such as the rum-based Flaming Mai Tai, served exclusively at the RumFire bar.
